Sticky treat

This is the third one we’ve celebrated together since I launched The Sticky Egg, so I think we know each other well enough to go trick-or-treatin.’

Here’s the trick:

The Egg has its own Facebook page now. Perhaps you’ve noticed the over-sized “Like” button at the upper right corner of the page.

Subtle, I know.

But The Egg needs your “Like’s” to make the page legit.  And I appreciate your support, if the feeling moves you.

In fact, in the true spirit of Halloween, I’m giving treats — actual sticky eggs, the toy everyone’s talking about — to 100 lucky “Likers” chosen at random.

(Hope I get that many.)

So speed right over to my Facebook page and do your thing.  I’ll message the winners for mailing details.

They are sticky, icky fun — just like Halloween!

SNAP

Yesterday a friend’s status on Facebook proudly trumpeted:

Snap, ya’ll — It’s Friday!

Snap yea!

I love the word ‘snap.’  I love the way it sounds.  I love the attitude those four little letters convey.  I love the fact it can be used in polite company…even if you mean it in a rude way.

I love the fact that ‘snap’ has a fun gesture associated with it.  You can snap once.  You can snap three times.  It just depends on how much ‘tude your snap is packing.

I think ‘snap’ has the potential to replace a certain other more offensive four-letter word that can’t be used all the time.  Not in front of your kids.  Or your mother.  Or on television.  But it can mean the same thing.

Snap you.  Snap off.  Snapping A!

‘Snap’ is versatile.  It has personality.  It can be packed with whatever emotion you bring to your snap.

I even created a Facebook page dedicated to the ‘snap.’   Put your fingers together and like it!

Do the ‘snap!’

Lotta nuts

I have often bemoaned the fact that celebrities are taking over the commercial voiceover landscape.  What used to be a lucrative business for John and Jane Doe is now fodder for popular stars of TV and movies.

But sometimes…advertisers just get it right.

Planters is giving Mr. Peanut a makeover.  We’re talking a whole new look.

High-tech 3D rendering. A nifty flannel suit.  And for the first time in almost a century, a voice.

Robert Downey Jr.’s voice.

If you saw Downey in “Sherlock Holmes,” you know why Planters is pursuing this particular bit of typecasting.  Both characters share the same tailor now, its true.  And if Mr. Peanut can embody the same smarts, humor, martial arts skill and sex appeal as Downey did as Holmes, then I’d say Planters has a hit on its hands.

They have already posted the holiday commercial on their Facebook page for fans to enjoy.  If you “Like” Mr. Peanut, you’ll be able to check out Downey’s vocal performance.

Is he as nutty as you had hoped?
