Oh, what a beautiful morning

I started my Sunday morning cleaning the apartment while watching Les Miserables on HBO.

It was my third viewing.

I obviously love the film, but I know there are many naysayers who poo-pooed the movie adaptation — because of changes made to the story and perceived imperfections in the songs because they were recorded live on set.

How dare emotions choke their voices.

But for those who question Hugh Jackman’s pipes in Les Miz, take a gander at his performance in the 1998 Royal National Theatre’s production of “Oklahoma!” in London’s West End, for which he earned an Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical.

‘Nuff said.

I LOVED Les Mis! And I only wish I could see it again! When I saw it in the cinema that wonderful, magical day, I was pretty mesmerised. And indeed, Hugh Jackman CAN sing very well!!!
My favourite song was: Do You Hear the People Sing?
    What was yours?!
    🙂

    • I loved Do You Hear the People, especially the reprise at the end of the film. I think the song that hit me the hardest was Hugh’s rendition of Who Am I at the beginning — that was when I knew the movie was going to be something amazing.

        Oh that was epic!
Such a fab film, I was – bad me! – not too keen on going in the first place to see it, because I feared I would find it…to be not my cup of tea. WAS I WRONG?!!!
        🙂

  2. Just catching up on a few days of The Egg here. Guess you know THAT CLIP indeed made it a beautiful morning……
