Feeling bookish

I haven’t been posting to the Egg as frequently as I did in the past. For those of you who may have wondered why…

I wrote a book!

This book, to be precise. It was released today, on National Authors Day. You can find it online everywhere.

(Hint: Search by title. The publishers were smart and listed it under the creator Charles Schulz instead of an unknown first-time hack.)

I am egg-cited!

Good grief

Met Life, say it isn’t so.

You’re dropping Peanuts as the spokes characters for your brand?

Snoopy and the gang can sell anything…plus, your timing couldn’t be worse.

The popular comic just released a new feature film, and a weekly cartoon series  is coming to television at the end of the year. Not to mention a new book (that I wrote) which is being released November 1st.

If I saw the Met Life folks, I think I would probably say:

For your consideration

I support this write-in candidate. I hope you will,  too.

Animal instincts

If you’ve spent any time on social media today, you may already know two great holidays have converged —

National Hug Day and Squirrel Appreciation Day.

If you’re like me, this accident of the calendar seems like a natural combination. I mean, what better way to show that cute little squirrel in your backyard or local park that you appreciate them than a big ol’ hug?

Then again, maybe not.

HAPPY 64TH ANNIVERSARY, PEANUTS!

(We sure miss ya, Sparky.)

Good grief

My sister and I came across these pumpkins for sell in the Chelsea Market here in New York City:

great pumpkin

We were both blown away by the price, especially for ‘great pumpkins’ that clearly ranged in size and weight.  (I’m pretty sure Linus would bemoan the blatant consumerism as well.)

How much would giant pumpkins go for in your neck of the woods?

Catty, or not

Unless you have been avoiding social media, you have no doubt heard the shocking revelation from Sanrio that Hello Kitty is, in fact not a kitty:

“Hello Kitty is not a cat. She’s a cartoon character. She is a little girl. She is a friend. But she is not a cat. She’s never depicted on all fours. She walks and sits like a two-legged creature. She does have a pet cat of her own, however, and it’s called Charmmy Kitty.”

hello kittyNow, I could point out the obvious flaws in their argument — six of them to be precise — those very un-little-girl-like whiskers that stick out of Hello Kitty’s face.

How many little girl characters sport whiskers?  If they have a hormonal imbalance, maybe…but that’s not the stuff of your typical cutesy cartoon world.

But instead, let’s focus on the bigger question —

WHY?

Why pick now to drop this bomb?  It has been 40 years since this very pink, very catty property was introduced — why pick now to draw this line in the litter box?

If this distinction mattered that much to Sanrio and to its legion of crazy cat lasses and ladies, they should have made it abundantly clear four decades ago.

Meow.
