Deja vu

This couch is sitting in the trash outside my building.

It looks just like the couch I bought for my very first apartment way back in…well, no need getting distracted by dates.

One thing is for sure — it’s timeless.

Ugly then, ugly now.

Don’t sit down

During the month of October, we see a lot of scary things on TV, in movies, on ads in every walk of life — all because Halloween is coming.

But with the exception of The Town that Dreaded Sundown, I don’t think I have seen anything as scary as the couch at this hotel.

Actually, the photo makes it look kinda vintage. It’s not.

It’s a HORROR.

Fashion forward (and center and guard)

As I sit firmly planted on the couch, enjoying another full day of March Madness, I noticed a trend amongst the basketball players.

(And I’m not talking about falling seeds.)

More and more are wearing tights under their shorts.  A quick survey of Google images reveals many NBA players are making this choice as well.

I for one consider it a slam dunk.

Being a fairly pasty person, I find displaying my glowing gams to be a fashion don’t . The older I get, the smarter this decision becomes.

If these basketball leggings inspire fashion designers of everyday wear…

The NCAA tourney will have more than one winner this year!

I got a little color

Another day in the bright sunshine at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center has left me happy, hot and headed for the couch where I intend to be a slug all night.

This is a slug.

Who knew being lazy could look so good?

Creature feature

I have a home office, and often keep the TV on for a little background noise in the apartment.

This afternoon I am working on the couch in front of the TV.  The sound is down low, so it’s more of a pleasant hum than a distraction.

But then this image filled the screen during a commercial break —

natalie portman black swan

Geez oh pete, HBO…don’t throw around the Black Swan willy-nilly.

That’s some seriously scary shit.

On your mark

I’ve always thought of waterproofing strictly for fabric protection.

Raincoats. Couches. Suede.  You get the idea.

Well, tonight I discovered that very same protection makes possible a great mealtime game  —

water droplet on clothWater Drop Races

At dinner earlier this evening, I spilled some water on the hotel conference room tablecloth.  By accident or design — I can’t remember which — we discovered if you blew on the drop of water, it raced across the table intact instead of dissipating into a wet splotch.

This was very entertaining to all of us.

(We’d been traveling all day.  Perhaps we were tired.)

Take a picture

To inspire today’s post, I scrolled through previous images I have used in the blog and selected one at random —

nap

Uh oh.

Not sure this one is going to do the job…especially on a national holiday.  Kinda feel the couch calling instead.

But wait — I have a laptop.  I can write on the couch. I’ll write my blog post there.  No worries.  No problems.

Uh oh.

The TV is in front of the couch…and Silver Linings Playbook is on Showtime.  That might get in the way of my writing.

Not so far.
