I usually avoid movies about dogs because of the inevitable ending.
No matter how wonderful the story, the relationship, the plot — the dog is going to die, either of trauma or old age, and my heart simply can’t take it.
But I saw this trailer at the theater last night. And although it made me cry like a baby, I may have to see this one.

I was clicking through the cable channels this Sunday morning and happened upon one of my favorite Jim Carrey movies, Bruce Almighty, at the exact moment that Bruce — enjoying his God-like powers by this point — tells his dog to use the toilet instead of going outside.
The image at left may have been doctored a bit, but if you’ve seen the film, the dog walks up to the tank, steps on the seat, does his business, flushes and even puts down the lid in deference to the ‘lady of the house.’
Now that I have an older dog in the house with more, shall we say, unpredictable pee pee patterns, I totally wish I had bought a little kiddie toilet and hired a dog trainer to teach him how to use it.
It would so rock.
He already reads the newspaper, of course.

I don’t remember the first time I saw the actor Tom Hardy on the big screen.
After consulting imdb.com, I’m tempted to say it was for supporting roles in either Star Trek: Nemesis or Marie Antoinette. But after Inception, I knew his name.
And after This Means War, the action rom-com with Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine, I liked him.
But after seeing the pics of Tom with his dog at the London premiere of his new film Legend, our relationship is taking a turn for the serious.
He brought this dog to the red carpet.
I think I’m in love.

I was raised in the South by amazing home cooks.
The food may not have been the best for us, but it tasted better than anything I’ve found in my travels.
We used to call my mother and her sisters “food pushers” because they were always encouraging us to eat more.
Another taste. Another serving. Heck, in some cases, another meal.
I had a flashback to those food pushers this morning when I was sitting on the floor, trying to get my dog Rory to eat.
When he rejected his wet food, I added chicken. When he tired of the chicken, I gave him treats. When he finished the treats, I handed him the wet food again.
Anything to get him to eat a decent-sized meal.
