The 2015 NCAA Final Four doesn’t start for three hours, but TBS’s coverage has already begun.
That’s right — they’re going to spend the next three hours talking about the two games yet to come.
And I’m cool with that.
It’s a bit like the red carpet that precedes all the major awards shows.
But based on what I’ve seen so far, this show won’t be as pretty. I mean…
Dennis Miller is the host.

I had seen images online of the April 6th issue of Sports Illustrated, so I couldn’t wait to get mine in the mail.
Just look at that angle of Karl-Anthony Towns in action:
But then I got my issue today. And it looked like this:
Because apparently there are no college basketball fans in the Northeast.
I mean, how could there be? No teams from this area made the Final Four. And there couldn’t possibly be fans of Kentucky, Wisconsin, Michigan State or Duke outside their state lines, right?
(Well, probably not Duke.)
Don’t worry. I’ve already contacted SI and requested a copy of the Kentucky cover issue. And written a letter to the editor.
March Madness only comes once a year.

As I sit firmly planted on the couch, enjoying another full day of March Madness, I noticed a trend amongst the basketball players.
(And I’m not talking about falling seeds.)
More and more are wearing tights under their shorts. A quick survey of Google images reveals many NBA players are making this choice as well.
I for one consider it a slam dunk.
Being a fairly pasty person, I find displaying my glowing gams to be a fashion don’t . The older I get, the smarter this decision becomes.
If these basketball leggings inspire fashion designers of everyday wear…
The NCAA tourney will have more than one winner this year!

Oh — hi there.
I was just brainstorming ways to describe how the UK Wildcats defeated the UCLA Bruins this afternoon in Chicago.

My JetBlue flight to San Diego today didn’t have WiFi, but it did have DirectTV, so I was able to catch the conference basketball tourney games enroute.
Kentucky wasn’t scheduled until later in the day, so I watched the Virginia/Florida State game. And I was really impressed with Virginia coach Tony Bennett.
Apparently he was named the ACC Coach of the Year. Based on his sideline behavior alone, I am not surprised. Everything in his manner eminates positivity.
Don’t get me wrong — I am a huge fan of UK Coach Calipari. But I can’t remember ever seeing him high five the Cats when they head to the bench for a timeout after a particularly great play. Or even see him smile.
Bennett does it a lot. With his players. With the refs. It makes a difference. I would work harder for that coach.
So, let’s give Cal something to smile about, Cats. It’s March — the best time of the year!

You can take the girl out of Kentucky, but you can’t take Kentucky out of the girl.
A scene from last Sunday’s The Newsroom on HBO — which took place in March, 2012 — had on a television set in the background playing footage of a UK Wildcats NCAA tournament game.
So of course, I had to mention it on Facebook. And my friend Dennison posted the quote at the top of this post in the comments section.
March Madness, baby.
That same quote came to mind just moments ago when Kentucky native (and UK grad) Josh Hopkins, who co-stars with Courtney Cox on Cougartown, tweeted:
Anybody in the Atlanta airport? 3 hour layover. Bored.
Only a Southerner would forgo his ‘star status’ and reach out to his followers on Twitter for some company.
‘Cause we’re friendly like that.
(And we win championships.)

This NCAA Final is stressful to watch! To keep from biting my nails, I created this cherry pop art print. (The cherries are on my pj’s.) Inspiration comes in the darnedest places.
