Cross that bridge

Some weekends have a theme.  Mine?

The Bridges of Madison County

steve pasquale tick tick boomMy Facebook friends already know that Friday night I had a chance encounter with Steven Pasquale —

We bumped into each other leaving Tick Tick Boom at City Center.

More accurately, my friend Dan helped me grab him for a quick hello, “you were wonderful in Bridges,”  and a photo.

So totally worth it.

Then last night, Dan suggested we see a late-night show at 54 Below — Lindsay Mendez and Derek Klena.

I fully expect to see Kelli O’Hara at the market today buying juice.

Sure shot

While checking the time on my cellphone last night, I accidentally took this photo.

On BroadwayI was waiting outside the backstage door at Kinky Boots on 45th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues here in Manhattan.  I think the building in the shot is across the street.

The picture is grainy and off-kilter, but I kinda like it.

It looks like an action shot taken from a car…or maybe on the way down, before the photographer hit the pavement.

And I bet a few visitors to New York City might find its disorientation  a reflection of their feelings from time to time during their trip.

Me?  I just hit the wrong button on my phone.

On the button

I love this photo.

I love the colors, the composition, the lighting.

It even fits the Labor Day theme.

Think of all the work that went into making each button. Think of the hands that sewed these buttons onto shirts, blouses, pants and shorts…and then sewed them back on when they fell off.

Think of the craftsmen who utilized these buttons for all kinds of other projects. Think of the photographer who conceived and shot this very photo.

A lot of labor went into these buttons.

But looking at them takes no effort at all.
