In case you are still listening….

George Alexander Louis?

call me whatOn behalf of William and Kate and the entire royal family…

I’m sorry, Royal Baby.

I know there is a long history of King Georges — six, in fact — but all I see when I hear the name “George” is George Costanza of Seinfeld infamy. And while he was a great TV sitcom character, I wouldn’t wish a son like him on William and Kate.

Or anyone, really.

Now, if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had gone with “Alexander” as a first name, I would be all over that. Maybe they are planning to call you by your middle name. Most of the kids I grew up with were called by their middle names. I always found it kinda odd…like their parents couldn’t make up their minds.  But I would gladly support it in this instance.

If not — if they decide to go with George — well, I return to my previous submission

Sebastian.

Royalty in residence

When I shared yesterday’s post on Chateauform Schloss Löwenstein — my castle-hotel near Frankfurt that evokes Downton Abbey — my sister asked,  “Have you seen a Matthew look-a-like?”

Sadly, no.

But there is a prince living here.

prince germanyAlois Konstantin is the ninth Prince of Löwenstein. He and his wife Anastasia, Princess of Prussia, occupy one wing of the castle.

The Prince works in the financial services industry in Frankfurt and manages the family’s assets.

And while I have not seen him during my stay, I must say —

Doesn’t he look a bit like Mr. Carson?

The same, yet different

It’s not often I can say this to a member of the royal family:

“Kate, this has so happened to me!”

The Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge Visit the 1st Battalion Irish Guards On St Patrick's DayDuring yesterday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade at the Aldershot Barracks, the Duchess of Cambridge got her high heel stuck in a grate. Husband William offered a supporting arm — and a giggle or two — while she freed her stiletto.

The soldier saluted.

Funny — almost the exact same thing happened to me during a business trip to Chicago!

I was walking with my colleagues to a nearby restaurant for dinner when a grate ate my heel. Two friends held me upright, saving me from an almost certain face plant.  So, let me belatedly salute their heroics —

Sans headpiece.

Get in line

Rumor time!

And it’s a good one.

queen elizabethDid you hear that Queen Elizabeth was hospitalized for gastroenteritis? As a “precautionary measure,” she was admitted today at King Edward VII Hospital in London.

Funny…where have I heard that news before?

Wasn’t Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cornwall, admitted to the same hospital in early December? For similar tummy troubles? As a “precautionary measure” right before they announced her pregnancy?

O.M.G. —

The Queen must be having a baby, too!!

Just remember — you heard it here first (unless the royal family is after me, and then I’m just repeating something I read on Page Six).

That woman just won’t give up the throne.

Royal flush

There’s Team Edward and Team Jacob. But in the doll making game…

It’s Team William all the way.

Mattel has released a Barbie and Ken version of William and Kate to commemorate their upcoming one-year wedding anniversary.

As you can see, they have given William a full head of hair — something he doesn’t possess in real life — and strengthened his jawline. And although Kate looks a bit like every Barbie I’ve seen, she’s pretty and her gown is spot-on.

No doll marker would risk offending the royal family.

That clearly wasn’t a concern for the Mattel designer selected to create the dolls that recreate the wedding of Bella and Edward in Twilight Breaking Dawn.

I’m guessing he isn’t a fan of the saga.  And Edward in particular.

His doll’s face is flat and fat, and his hair looks like an old lady’s wig.  I know the white makeup isn’t flatteringly on anyone in the movies, but it eliminates all detail here.

In the words of my friend Tina…

Barf.

Lucky pup

Four months have passed since the wedding of William and Catherine, credited with breathing new life into Britain’s royal family.

Watch out, newbies — Charles and Camilla are gaining on you.

Sure, you didn’t accept wedding gifts, instead requesting contributions to a list of charities near-and-dear to your hearts.  And Catherine isn’t doing the ladies-in-waiting routine associated with princesses past.

In fact, you’re living quite simply in a rented home in North Wales while William completes his three-year stint with the RAF.  Going to the pub.  Catching a late-night movie.  Even shopping for your own groceries.

Props for living like normal folks.

Not to be outdone, Charles and Camilla recently adopted Beth, a Jack Russell terrier puppy from the Battersea Dogs Home in London.

Now, the royals are long known for being dog lovers.  The Queen Mother is often photographed with her purebred corgis.  So it is exciting to see the future king rescue a puppy instead of going the traditional breeder route.  It sets a great example for everyone.

I can only hope it becomes as trendy — and garners as much attention — as the hats at the royal wedding!
