Okay, patriotic sports fans.
It’s time for you to hurl your alcohol-soaked national pride at one of my favorite sporting events — a sport that dare I say more people watch year-round (instead of once every four years):
Golf’s Ryder Cup, which pits the United States Team versus The World — that’s the entire world, people — kicks off tomorrow in Scotland.
I’m giving you an entire day to prepare. Gather your buddies. Pick your bar and drink of choice. Warm up your vocal chords for the vigorous screaming that will commence.
If you’ve never experienced golf on television before, I invite you to watch these world-class players representing their countries going head-to head.
I think you will be surprised to see how truly exciting it is.
You just might find yourself screaming, beer or not beer.

I’ve watched a lot of television this weekend.
It must be winter.
And every time I saw the HBO logo animation before the start of an original series or movie, I was reminded of Six Feet Under.
It was one of the first and the best. That familiar static signals the beginning of the quality TV we’ve come to expect.
But the Showtime bumper?
The audio is always SO loud compared to the programming before or after. It screams for our attention. I’m annoyed before the shows even start!
(Sorry, True Detective — I’ll try not to hold it against you.)

What did you do today?
I stood outside and pretended to yell and cheer.
It kinda looked like this — I was with a group of people miming mass excitement in a commercial shoot in Brooklyn — but nothing else was remotely the same.
See the blue sky in that photo? We never saw that today.
It was all grey clouds and showers…and often heavy showers. And on this particular shoot, we had nowhere else to go. No comfy, dry holding area for us. So we had to stand around outside, huddled under umbrellas, waiting for the rain to pause to get the shot.
Think about it. We had to stand outside — stand — in the rain for 10 hours.
Acting is so glamorous.
