When you go to the lady doctor for your yearly poke-and-prod, some tests aren’t so yearly anymore.
Depending on your age and family history, your physician may recommend a Pap smear, for example, every two years… or a mammogram only after age 40.
(My family history is so checkered, I get to do these type of tests every year, but I’ve heard rumors.)
The other thing you have to do every time you walk in a doctor’s office is a weight check. This I feel should change.
The nurse usually takes my weight, after consulting my chart. Unless I appear to have ballooned to an obese level, I don’t feel this is a necessary measure. It’s not the way I want to start the conversation, either…
Unless the nurse takes his/her weight, too. Then we have something to discuss.

My sister and I came across these pumpkins for sell in the Chelsea Market here in New York City:
We were both blown away by the price, especially for ‘great pumpkins’ that clearly ranged in size and weight. (I’m pretty sure Linus would bemoan the blatant consumerism as well.)
How much would giant pumpkins go for in your neck of the woods?

If you have a few extra pounds on your person, don’t blame yourself.
Blame Benjamin Moore.
A study published in a recent issue of Contract magazine reveals that people who eat in kitchens and dining areas painted red, orange and yellow feel hungrier. The sunnier hues apparently make food more attractive.
To eat less, we need to surround ourselves with blue light and blue tones…or, at the very least, use blue utensils and dishes to help curb our hunger.
Now they tell me!
My entire house is a tribute to the colors red, yellow and orange. They’re even in my bathroom. I have always loved their energy and fire, but now I guess — deep down – I was really just looking for another excuse to eat.
This revelation has its advantages. Now, if I gain a pound or two, it’s not my fault; it’s the yellow paint in my kitchen. And all those red dishes. Or maybe the orange FLOR tiles in the living room. Heck, I even have a red leather love seat.
I’m the victim here!
